Kent Seton Speaks on BlogTalkRadio.com
Our Managing Partner, Kent Seton, was invited to speak live on the internet radio talk show "What's Your Story" hosted by Rosie Olsen to speak about what it takes to set up a nonprofit organization. The show aired on Sunday, April 6 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Seminar-a-thon
Booking hotel conference rooms left and right, our Managing Partner, Kent Seton, is on a mission to help as many nonprofit organizations and philanthropists as he can through his speaking engagements. He was invited to speak at an educational seminar for professionals hosted by PINCUS, a educational resource for professionals, to speak on "Navigating Nonprofits: Forming, Financing, Boards and Legal Compliance" on March 27, 2008.
Mr. Seton has taken his speaking engagements to a whole new level by offering free educational seminars (limited to the first 25 people to register) on topics concerning fundraising, board liability, and other nonprofit issues. The free educational seminar held on April 3, 2008 was a huge success. Those who attended were board directors and officers of new and existing nonprofits, financial advisors, lawyers and individuals interested in starting a nonprofit. Each attendee actively participated by asking questions and sharing their own knowledge and experience with other attendees, something you cannot do in larger conferences or seminars. Julie Steinberg, an attendee of this seminar and Treasurer of the Beverly Hills Athletic Alumni Association, said, "I really thought your seminar was incredibly valuable. As I mentioned to Kent, I have been to nonprofit seminars before and they were mostly boring and useless. This was fabulous."
The next free seminar will be held December 17th, 2008.

What Was Your First Book?
Two of our associates, Courtney Waggoner and Leila Stevens, are involved in a national Non Profit Organization called First Book. Courtney and Leila are active with the LA Central Advisory Board of the organization. Courtney serves as an Advisory Board Member and Leila is a volunteer fundraiser.
Although the First Book organization is well-established nationally, First Book - LA Central is a new, dynamic, volunteer-based chapter that promotes literacy by providing books to children from low-income families in Los Angeles county.
Through schools, after-school programs, and other organizations for kids, First Book-LA Central grants six to twelve brand-new books per student for them to take home and own. The First Book-LA Central Advisory Board was formed in February 2007 and has already granted thousands of books to hundreds of children, who otherwise would never have had the chance to own their own book. The Board is made up of working professionals from a wide range of industries in both the public and private sector.
